Latest News & Announcements:

23/04/2008 - NUT Strike Action

You may have heard in the news that members of the National Union of Teachers have voted in a recent ballot to take industrial action on Thursday 24 April. A significant number of teachers at Chew Valley School are members of the NUT and will be taking action.

It would be neither safe nor prudent to open the school to all year groups for the duration of the strike action. The School Governors and the Local Authority have agreed that the school will be open for examination Years 11, 12 and 13 on Thursday 24 April. The buses will run as normal for pupils in these year groups. Unfortunately the school will be closed for pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. We will, of course, be back to normal on Friday 25 April.

13/03/2008 - Tesco Computers for Schools

Chew Valley School is once again collecting Tesco Computers For Schools vouchers. In the past we have been well supported by pupils, parents, guardians and friends of the school. Over the years we have exchanged our vouchers for Computers and Digital Cameras.

This year the Tesco Computers for Schools 2008 promotion runs in Tesco stores for 10 weeks between 3rd March and the 11th May.

One voucher is given for every £10 spent in Tesco stores and petrol filling stations in a single transaction (excluding purchases from Concessions, Tobacco Kiosk, prescription medicines, infant formulae or the sale of National Lottery tickets and scratch cards). One voucher is given for every £5 spent in Tesco Express stores (subject to the above exclusions). For every working phone your school sends in, they will be given 30 vouchers, and 5 for a non-working phone. For every empty inkjet cartridge you send in that can be recycled, you will be given 10 Computers for Schools vouchers. For further information about the scheme please visit the Tesco Computers for Schools website.

We have collection boxes in our Reception area, Library and Mezzanine floor computer room for donations of vouchers. Finally we would like to thank you once again for your continued support.
