Summer Concert

The beautiful summer evening of Wednesday 29^th June saw Chew Valley School host its Summer Concert. A keen audience were treated to a varied programme of music styles including classical, folk, show tunes and contemporary pop songs. The concert opened with the Chamber Choir performing two tracks ‘Everytime I Feel The Spirit’ and ‘Hush!’ Act one also saw Rosanna Davies and Maria Montague singing a particularly beautiful duet of ‘In His Eyes’ from Jekyll and Hyde. The folk group, who all looked the part, went down a storm with the audience. The first half of the summer concert finished with a group of year 10 GCSE students proving their talents by playing an acoustic set which included numbers from The Kooks and The Script. Act two opened with the school orchestra performing three numbers. One of these, Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber saw the orchestra accompanied by a group of singers, which really added to the atmosphere of the song. Instrumental solos followed from Emma Carter and Louise Harrison playing the piano and flute respectively. The evening drew to a close with a rousing and spirited performance from the Chew Valley Swing Band. Many thanks go to all staff and students involved in making the summer concert a success.
