Study camp is nearly here!

Welcome to study camp!

The aim of the study camp is to give pupils the opportunity to develop exam confidence, motivation and performance in a comfortable environment.

The day will run from 8.50am until 1.30pm. It is really important the students arrive on time and go straight to the sixth form block common room to sign in.

What students will need to bring:

-          A watch! – there will be no bells so a watch is vital to get to sessions on time

-          Notes from lessons – There will be private study sessions, so students must bring something to revise from

-          Money – for the tuck shop (NO CASHLESS CATERING AVAILABLE)

-           Wear, comfortable clothes suitable for some light exercise as well as revision!

-          A nice selection of stationery and paper

What the study camp offers
The study camp will provide a safe, quiet and purposeful environment for pupils to perfect their exam technique and highlight problem areas within subjects. Study sessions will be both teacher led concentrating on curriculum subjects and in the form of independent study. Each day pupils will have the opportunity to take part in some physical activity to help them to relax and focus.  

Organisation
For those who have opted for taught study camp, the day will run from 8.50am through until 1.30 pm. Study sessions will be based in the English/sixth form block and humanities block. Pupils will be placed in study groups of 12-15. Students will undertake a variety of study sessions in core subjects (Maths, English and Science), option subjects (P.E. Geography etc) and independent study. Those that have opted for independent study camp will be based in the library.  

Code of conduct

The following are some basic rules that must be adhered to during the week for the welfare and safety of all the staff and students.

Behaviour expectations
The study camp will be employing a Zero Tolerance approach to poor behaviour. Any pupils who behave inappropriately will be removed from the study session and subsequently the study camp.

Break times
There will be scheduled, supervised breaks during the day. Due to staffing, pupil movements will be restricted

Signing in
Pupils will be required to meet at a designated place on morning arrival to sign in.

Dress code
Pupils are allowed to attend the study camp non-uniform but must present themselves in suitable clothing.

Mobile Phones/MP3 Players
Although it may be necessary for pupils to bring a mobile phone to the study camp they are not to be used during study sessions or at break times. MP3 players can be used during independent study sessions.

Money
There will be refreshments available during the day in the form of water, fruit, tea, coffee and biscuits. It is recommended that pupils bring some money if they need to purchase any of the refreshments on offer. Pupils will also be able to bring their own snacks to the study camp. CASHLESS CATERING WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.
