Students enjoy sports and activities taster day

Local community clubs were invited to support this new initiative to encourage pathways from curricular PE to community sports. 22 coaches representing Chew Valley Rugby, Gym, Cheerleading Netball, Tae-kwon-do, Squash, Chew Magna Cricket, Cameley Football,  Avon Dance Academy, Bishop Sutton Tennis, Circus Skills, Athletics, Rounders, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, Badminton and Outdoor & Adventurous Activities took up the challenge and spent the day delivering taster sessions to all students in years 7- 9.

Aided by the glorious weather and much enthusiasm, the day ran smoothly and was clearly enjoyed by all. The event enabled students to experience exciting physical activities, many for the first time. Comments from pupils include ‘absolutely amazing’, ‘awesome’ and ‘cool’.

We would like to thank all our local coaches, pe staff and other school staff involved for their energy enthusiasm and most importantly for giving up their time. It was their hard work which made the day a huge success.
