Shiver me timbers!!
On 7th July, 50 of Year 10’s most terrifying pirates braved the black spot, the seven seas and the A37 to see ‘Treasure Island’ in the fearsome city of Bristol.
Pirate dress was compulsory as we headed off to the open air production of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, which is taking place outside the Bristol Old Vic in King Street from 7th July to 26th August. Despite a few light showers our swashbucklin’ crew proved they weren’t a bunch of landlubbers and braved all that the elements could throw at them. Bin bags and ponchos soon became the dress code of choice as the actors continued despite the downpour. The production was fantastic, enhanced by the seagulls flying overhead and darkness falling as the Hispaniola set sail to reclaim Captain Flint’s long lost treasure.
A brilliant cast of 8 actors, all playing multiple roles, fantastic set and costumes and 50 wonderful students in full pirate regalia made it a night to remember. The students will now write a review as part of their GCSE Drama coursework. Yarrrggghhhhhh!
