Yr 7 Lemony Snicket Competition

Fourteen creative Year 7 students won the wonderful opportunity to attend a rather 'fortunate event'; an afternoon with the international best-selling author Lemony Snicket. His appearance at Kingswood School in Bath was the highlight of the Bath Literature Festival, providing a select audience with a rare opportunity to meet the notoriously camera-shy novelist.
The budding writers were chosen as winners of a competition to describe 'An Unfortunate Event', producing some vivid and highly imaginative tales of woe!

Masquerading as "Mr Snicket's Assistant", the eccentric American treated the packed theatre to an afternoon of frenetic, fun-filled fiction, as Sonny Pearce (7V) reports:
The competition was English homework set on the 26th November 2009 to get the chance to meet the anonymous Lemony Snicket, the author of the series of the unfortunate trio, A series of unfortunate Events.
The numerous competition entries varied from true embarrasing stories to made up fiction-fantasy disasters.  All meant to the the most horrific, embarrasing, dreadful and (most of all) unfortunate.
We headed through a massive outside area and through a cathedral-like school. And past huge corridoors and stair-cases. EVentually we found the righ place, yes, admittedly we were a couple of hours late but who's counting, it turns out, everyone.
When we were at the talk we found our seats, well, not QUITE seats. More like...Steps! Because we were late our seats were given away! Our view was obscured but okay. When we came in a man was standing mid-stage we assumed that he was Lemony Snicket. He was extremely funny and was more of a comedian than an author! He included the crowd into his talk which was always funny.
After his talk we had our books signed and stamped by him , he said something different to everyone. It wasn't much of an unfortunate event after all!
