Designers in Residence

Budding designers of the future had a wonderful opportunity to work with Designers in Residence this week. Never before has it been so important for British industry to encourage emerging design talent. Students from Years 10-13 spent a day with Becky and Martin, two London based designers. They took the students through different design exercises. Idea-generation and sketchability are 'real-life' industry techniques used to creating new and exciting designs.

Year 10 students commented that it was brilliant to meet people to prove that they could have a career in design. With students currently picking placements for Work Experience, the timing was excellent. As one Year 10 commented, "This workshop has made me realise that my lessons at Chew Valley will be really useful in my career. I want to do Design at A-Level and have already booked my Work Experience with a design firm in Bristol. This day has made things clear to me."
