Normandy Visit 2010

On 7th-11th June we travelled to Normandy for an educational and a very enjoyable school trip! We learnt about the D-day landings and put our French lessons into good practice. On the trip we went to many places, including a French market, some towns, a French supermarket and a bakery.

We also visited the D-day museum which informed us about many of the vital factors of the landings, the tactics of each side and many other interesting facts. We went to a 360 museum, which replayed the events of the D-day landings as if you were actually there. My favourite part of the trip, however, was visiting the goat farm, even though the goats tried to eat everyone’s shirts. We were allowed to pet the goats and even have fresh milk straight from the animal as well! The part of the trip that touched me most though was visiting the graves of all the deceased soldiers in the war. It was very upsetting and made me feel grateful for where I am today.

Overall I thought the trip was very good and I’m very pleased I went!

Normandy was much, much better than I had ever expected and I would love to go on another French trip. The trip was fantastic and everybody went home full with all the happy, cheerful, amusing, emotional and enjoyable experiences which we shared on the trip. Thank you for everyone who helped to plan the trip but a big thank to Miss Desjardin for creating such amazing memories, which will stay in our heads forever.
